Clear choices about website technology

Cookie notice

This notice explains the cookies and similar technologies used on mrsdownsizer.co.uk, why they are used and what choices visitors have.

Last updated: 9 August 2026 · Version 2.0

Current position

Necessary security only
A review of public page responses on 9 August 2026 identified a Cloudflare security cookie used to protect the website from malicious or automated traffic.

No Google Analytics, advertising pixel or social-media tracking tool is intentionally enabled by Mrs Downsizer.

Cookies at a glance

  • The public website currently uses a Cloudflare security cookie that is necessary to protect and deliver the site.
  • Mrs Downsizer has not intentionally enabled analytics, advertising or cross-site marketing cookies.
  • If optional technology is added later, it will not be activated until any consent required by law can be obtained and this notice has been updated.

1. What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small text files stored on a browser or device. Similar technologies include scripts, pixels and local storage that store information or access information already held on a device.

These technologies can support security and essential functions, remember choices, measure use or enable advertising. UK rules generally require clear information and consent before non-essential technologies are used. Strictly necessary technologies are exempt from consent, although they should still be explained.

2. Cookie currently used on public pages

__cf_bm — Cloudflare bot management and security
Purpose: helps Cloudflare identify and reduce malicious automated traffic so the website remains secure and available.
Duration: expires after 30 minutes of continuous inactivity.
Category: strictly necessary.

Cloudflare states that this cookie is generated separately for each protected website and is not a cross-site user identifier. Read Cloudflare’s cookie information.

3. WordPress administrator cookies

WordPress may set test, authentication and preference cookies when an authorised administrator visits the login page or signs in. These support secure administration and dashboard preferences. They are not used to track ordinary visitors to the public website.

Examples include wordpress_test_cookie, wordpress_[hash], wordpress_logged_in_[hash] and administrator preference cookies. Session cookies end with the browser session; login or preference cookies expire according to the selected login and WordPress settings.

4. Hosting and similar technologies

The site is hosted by GoDaddy and delivered through Cloudflare. Public pages load hosting, security and performance scripts supplied by those providers. They may process technical information such as IP address, browser details, request timing and security signals as described in the Privacy Notice.

The review did not identify a Google Analytics tag, Meta Pixel or other advertising tracker controlled by Mrs Downsizer.

5. Necessary and optional technologies

Strictly necessary technologies support security, network delivery, forms or administrator access. They cannot all be disabled through an on-page control because the service may not work safely without them.

Optional technologies include analytics, personalisation and advertising tools that are not essential to a service requested by the visitor. Mrs Downsizer will seek a clear choice before using any optional technology where consent is required.

6. Your browser choices

You can use browser settings to delete or block cookies. Blocking necessary cookies may affect security, forms or other site functions. The website does not currently display a consent panel because Mrs Downsizer has not intentionally enabled optional cookies; a suitable control will be added before any such technology is activated.

7. Changes to this website

Cookies and scripts can change when the host, security settings, theme or plugins change. Mrs Downsizer will review public page responses and installed technology after material website changes and at least annually.

If a new optional analytics, advertising or embedded-media service is proposed, its purpose, provider and duration will be assessed and this notice and the visitor controls will be updated before it is enabled.
